“It got me right in the H1N1!” were the last words of muppet Miss Piggy, who died today of Swine Flu after a brief veterinary hospital stay. Miss Piggy claimed to be 29, though her age has never been verified. She is perhaps best known for her role as the eccentric and outspoken swine princess on the television comedy The Muppets.
“What are awards?” she once said. “Mere baubles, mere bagatelles, mere Brussels sprouts. I give no thought.”
A private service was held at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills, attended by several muppets with someone’s hand up their ass. The family requests that donations be made to Usinger’s Sausage of Milwaukee.

LOL–someone had to pick up on H1N1. I am passing this one on to my pod-mates.

lolz to “someone’s hand up their ass.” But should be asses, sorry.

Thanks for the comment, Pauli. I think I’m accurate on the singular “ass,” even though it doesn’t sound quite natural. I believe the rule of grammar here is that when each subject has just one of something, the singular form prevails. Similarly, people returned to their home, is correct, even though people returned to their homes is more common.
Of course, for all I know, muppets could have multiple asses. That could be an entire blog in itself – muppet anatomy. But (butt?) it might eventually attract unsavory characters followed by a visit from Dateline, so let’s leave it at that. Thanks again for writing. – Sawyer

I’m forcibly reminded of a line uttered on a Cleveland talk radio show by US Congressman-turned-jailbird James Traficant: “I’ll sue their assets, man!”
