An old summer house sits on a hill over a secluded lake in Vermont. Lovely screened porch, view for miles, tall pines.
All around, privacy.
73 wooden stairs below, at water level, the dock.
Two cousins, Mckenzie and Puff, inherit the camp prematurely by pushing their great aunt’s wheelchair down the stairs.
A homicide detective sees a sparkle at the bottom of the lake beside the dock. He doesn’t believe it material to the case, but orders the officer with him, who he’s always wanted to see naked, to strip down to her underwear, wade in and retrieve the item.
She finds a waterproof Breitling Chronograph, a five thousand dollar watch easy. Pockets it. Tells him it was just a quarter. Sells it on Ebay.
To a buyer who pays for it with a stolen credit card.
Loses the money investing in a company that’s gutted by avaricious officers who tear out of the company parking lot in Porsches full of gas overpriced by oil speculators, just as the Feds arrive to steal some company supplies.
Mckenzie and Puff inherit the camp and celebrate with wine they believe to be French.
In the final scene, the cousins look longingly at one another in ways that suggest unhealthy things will follow that night.
Is that a book you would read? Would you? Would you steal it?

It’s good to see that a week away from blogging has left your sense of humor more demented than ever.
And I mean that in the best way possible…
Peace,

I might buy such a book. Not sure I would bother reading it, although I do read most every book I buy, unless it’s something by David Baldacci (for some reason) or about real estate (for some other reason).
Anyway, I enjoy your blog. Like the new look too, although I’ll miss the guy on the bench in front of the geodesic dome.
